Briarcrest Christian School Announces The Construction Of A New $7 Million Addition To The Briarcrest Master Plan At The Houston Levee Campus
The centerpiece of Briarcrest’s new construction will be a beautiful 35,000 square-foot addition, including a 1,000-seat auditorium which will be named the Dr. Willard R. Sparks Chapel and Performing Arts Center. Our new state-of-the-art performance venue will also include six music practice rooms, a theatre and dance sudio, vocal music classroom, two additional classrooms for performing arts, a full theatrical stage, backstage holding areas, full dressing rooms and a set workshop. An informal art gallery will also be featured in the main lobby of the facility displaying artwork by Briarcrest students. The west wing of the building will be the new home for the Administrative Offices, which will include offices for Admissions, Development, Communications, Business Affairs departments, as well as the President’s and Headmaster’s offices.
The majority of funds for the “Fulfilling the Promise... Building Our Future” capital campaign will come from the sale of the East Memphis campus. The balance of approximately $2.25 million will be funded by generous donations through this capital campaign, which will take place over the next year. The contributions to this capital campaign will allow Briarcrest Christian School to avoid tuition increases and any additional debt in order to fully fund this project. The Sparks Foundation has granted a gift of $1 million to the capital campaign. In honor of this gift, the chapel will be named in memory of the late Dr. Willard R. Sparks.
Construction for this project has already begun and is scheduled to be complete in the Fall of 2013.
