Briarcrest is a co-educational, non-denominational school for grades K2-12 with enrollment of approximately 1,600 students.
Briarcrest has Dual Accreditation from the Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Briarcrest is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International, Tennessee Association of Independent Schools, Memphis Association of Independent Schools, and the College Board.
At Briarcrest - as in the real world - both girls and boys occupy leadership positions within the school and participate fully in the life of the school.
99% College Placement
Briarcrest sends 99% of the student body to colleges and universities nationwide, including Ivy League schools and other prestigious institutions of higher learning. Eight out of ten Briarcrest students get into the first university of their choice.
Advanced Placement Courses
All of our classes are college preparatory. In addition to core courses, advanced courses, and electives, Briarcrest offers 12 Advanced Placement courses. Briarcrest students taking Advanced Placement (AP) are often eligible to receive college credit or waive required college courses. In 2012, 71% of BCS students scored a 3 or above on AP examinations. Ninety to 100% passing rate has been achieved consistently in many AP classes at Briarcrest.
This year, we will also offer a Dual Enrollment programs with Union University and University of Memphis allowing 11th and 12th grade students to earn college credits while finishing their high school graduation requirements. Briarcrest in the only private school in the Mid-South offering dual enrollment.
Class Size and Faculty
Briarcrest's average class size is 18 students. Our student/teacher ratio is 11:1. Our talented faculty are experienced educators - our faculty averages 15 years of teaching experience. 35% have advanced degrees (including doctoral degrees) and 25 faculty members are alumni.
Teachers use technology in a wide variety of ways to enhance their classes.
Campus & Facilities
Our beautiful campus located on 90 acres in Eads, Tennessee offers a “one-stop-shop” for three-year old preschool through 12th grade at our Houston Levee campus. This location is ideally located between Collierville, Germantown, Cordova, Eads, Arlington and Fayette County.
Our East Memphis campus is dedicated to serving as a full-service elementary school for students from two-year old preschool through 5th grade. Many grades enjoy smaller student-teacher ratios. Students benefit from the same program of studies as elementary students at the Houston Levee campus, but also enjoy the luxury of having access to the facilities at the East Memphis campus.
Briarcrest offers 17 sports teams in grades K-12. Our teams have produced state championships and many Briarcrest students have recieved athletic scholarships to many SEC schools. We have also had students go on to play professional football in the NFL.
Our athletic program is among the most comprehensive and successful in the area. We have the privilege of playing in the TSSAA Division II West AA for large schools. We provide the most comprehensive offering of boys’ and girls’ sports, including football, soccer, volleyball, cross country, golf, basketball, wrestling, bowling, swimming, trap shooting, baseball, softball, lacrosse, track, tennis, cheerleading and pom.
The breadth and quality of our fine arts program is second to none. In our elementary program, we have a wonderful music and visual arts program. In middle and high school, we offer the full spectrum of choir, band, theater, and visual arts. These programs have been recognized with numerous individual and group awards for excellence.
Our Christian faith is integrated throughout all of our programs and courses of study. As an outreach of our Christian mission and philosophy, we have a great community service program. We also sponsor mission trips, both at home and abroad, that minister to people’s needs and provide opportunities to share God’s love.

We believe that qualified students who desire an education at Briarcrest Christian School should not be turned away because they cannot pay full tuition. Therefore, we have established a tuition assistance program to help families in need. Tuition assistance is awarded strictly on the basis of need in a completely confidential process. Briarcrest does not award any athletic or academic merit scholarships.
