Great Works of the Heart
In an effort to celebrate excellence in the area of the Fine Arts, the "Great Works of the Heart Festival" was begun by Mrs. Jamie Thompson in 1989. Entries range from writings, poems, and projects to art work, and excellence in vocal and instrumental music.
On Wednesday, March 5, over 240 certificates and medals of excellence were awarded to over 100 deserving Middle Schoolers.
Congratulations to all of our award winners and participants.
Don't Miss The Little Mermaid, Jr. and
"Ariel's Tea Under The Sea" Party
Join Ariel and friends for a magical excursion on land and "under the sea" as BCMS presents, "Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr." on April 3 and 4 at 7:00 p.m. and April 5 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the new Sparks Chapel and Performing Arts Center.
This colorful and talent-packed show directed by Melody Weintraub features all of the songs you love so well, including “Part of Your World,” “She’s in Love,” and the Oscar-winning song, “Under the Sea.”
On Saturday, April 5, make plans to attend, “Ariel’s Tea Under the Sea.” This ticketed event promises to make a lasting memory for your child as they get to meet their favorite characters for lunch and get a special backstage tour! Cheer 2014-2015 Parent Information Meeting
Parents of girls currently in grades 5-11 interested in cheer for 2014-15 should plan to attend an informational meeting regarding tryouts, expectations, requirements, etc. on Thursday, March 20 in the high school Multi-Purpose Room at 6:30 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact Laura Nichols, Spirit Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tryout packets will be distributed, and coaches will be introduced. Tryouts for the 2014-15 Cheer Squads will be held the week of April 14.
On Wednesday, March 5, Mrs. Nichols will meet during Activity Period with all rising 9th grade girls interested in participating on a non-competitive pom squad. Again, contact Mrs. Nichols at email@example.com if you have questions.
8th Grade Boys' Capture Title
Congratulations to the 8th Grade Boys' Basketball Team for their 1st Place Finish in the Shelby League Tournament. Under the direction of Head Coach Michael Haywood and Assistant Coach Terry Sturdivant, the Saints captured the prestigious title over a very tough team from MUS. "It was a total team effort," said Coach Haywood. "I could not be more proud this group of fine young men. It was a joy to coach them throughout the season."
National Junior Honor Society
Congratulations to the 60 eighth grade students who were inducted into the Jamie Thompson Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. In order to be eligible for induction, eighth grade students must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.70 in the yearlong core courses of grades 6-8. Students are also evaluated on the basis of character, leadership, service, and citizenship.

Spring Sports Requirements
Physicals - All athletes must have a current sports physical on file in the MS Athletic Office in order to practice or participate.
Concussion Forms - All athletes (and their parents) must sign the concussion information forms in order to practice or participate.

Briarcrest Cares is a ministry at BCS whose purpose is to lend a helping hand to those families at our school who are facing difficult times and to share the love of Christ with them. Briarcrest Cares will pray, send cards, or provide meals in cases of illness, hospitalization, death, accidents, births, or other events.
